Banyuwangi's Handicraft Art is Made Worldwide

The city of Banyuwangi has its own cultural value which includes a variety of small or home industry handicraft arts. The handicraft business is a part of the creativity of local residents in creating quality artwork from natural materials.

"The products we produce, ranging from tissue boxes, photo frames, to bag products, jewelry, small furniture and all made from banana fronds," said Ibien.

Until now, through the Kejaya Handicraft product label, Ibien has produced at least 500 types of natural handicraft products originating from the city of Banyuwangi. The main products that he produces and is popular with among local and international tourists are products made from snake skin and tiger skin which are the basis of fashion products such as bags, wallets, belts, leather benches or sofas, and tiger dolls.

Other handicrafts produced by Kejaya Handicraft are products for household needs, such as glass, plates, cutlery, tables, benches, woven from sticks, shell bags, to products for the needs of women.

According to Ibien, all the products that have been made with the Kejaya Handicraft brand are purely the creations of the surrounding community who were given the opportunity by him, to create handicraft art.

Ibien said, taking the name Kejaya meant that all the products produced were very good objects, both from the form of cultural arts, from the raw materials because they would never run out, because the raw materials were always renewed by environmentally friendly mechanisms. "Another glory is the value of benefits for all human beings to meet the complementary needs of life," he admitted.

Through a workshop with a address at Tambong Kejoyo, Banyuwangi Regency, Ibien has employed at least 200 art workers from surrounding communities, young and old, ladies and gentlemen, with a fixed or contracted payroll system.

Entering 2015, Ibien said, Kejaya Handicraft products are ready to face the fierce competition in the Southeast Asian free market or better known as the Asean Economic Community (AEC). This he proved, with many orders and orders for products to be exported to the United States, and some to several countries in Europe.

"They really like products made from natural materials such as household appliances, accessories for fashion, products for interior needs to furniture products," explained Ibien.
