Jepara Boosts Furniture and Troso Fabric Exports to Asia Pacific

The Jepara Regency Government continues to encourage superior regional products to penetrate the global market. Through cooperation with the Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, as many as 300 business actors are prepared to export to a number of potential countries.

This step was discussed in an audience with the Directorate General of Asia Pacific and Africa (Ditjen Aspasaf) of the Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, which took place at Pringgitan Pendopo Kartini Jepara, Tuesday (8/7/2025). The main focus of the discussion was increasing exports of carved furniture and Troso woven fabrics to the Asia Pacific region and other strategic countries.

Secretary of the Directorate General of Aspasaf, Trisari Dyah Paramita, explained that this meeting was a follow-up to last year's discussion with stakeholders in Jepara. The goal is to encourage exports of superior commodities to contribute to regional economic growth.

"We want to support increasing furniture exports as a superior commodity. If regional exports increase, the impact will be felt nationally," said Trisari.

As an initial step, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs will identify export destination countries and bridge Jepara business actors with potential international buyers. The countries targeted include the Philippines, South Korea, Malaysia, the United Arab Emirates, India, and South Africa.

Dubai is one of the focal points because of its position as a strategic hub in the Middle East region. "In Dubai there is an international exhibition INDEX attended by buyers from hundreds of countries. This is a great opportunity for Jepara," added Trisari.

In addition to furniture, Troso ikat woven fabric also receives special attention. "This fabric has been widely used by famous designers. In accordance with the direction of the Regent, we will strengthen the existence of Troso woven fabric in the global market," he explained.

Jepara Regent H. Witiarso Utomo emphasized his support for efforts to increase exports. He asked local associations and business actors to immediately prepare to face the global market.

"I ask that 300 business actors be prepared for export. We will help push Jepara's exports to the whole world," he said.

Mas Wiwit, the Regent's nickname, said that export exploration had begun with the Philippines and would be expanded. "They have networks in 114 countries and 76 representatives. We will identify markets that are not yet optimal and explore their opportunities," he said.

The superior products that will be promoted include carved furniture such as chairs, cupboards, and troso ikat woven fabrics. In fact, the Jepara Regency Government plans to participate in a fashion show in the United States.

"We want to invite famous designers to bring troso woven fabrics and the name of Jepara to the international scene," concluded Mas Wiwit.
