LPEI Assists SMEs Towards Export Through Product Exhibition at TEI 2019

The Indonesian Export Financing Agency (LPEI) has facilitated Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) to meet prospective buyers through the Indonesia Trade Expo (TEI) which is held for 5 days on 16 to 20 October 2019 at the Indonesia Convention Exhibition (ICE) BSD, Banten.

The UKM is a Coaching Program for New Expoters (CPNE) participant who received training and assistance from LPEI for one year. Some assistance provided by LPEI to SMEs is how to prepare documentation and how to negotiate when in a bargaining position with buyers. After providing assistance, 62 selected SMEs were also presented by LPEI to be ready to boost exports through their various products.

Executive Director of the Indonesian Export Financing Institute (LPEI), Sinthya Roesly said that, the CPNE program has been running since 2015 and already has 2,200 export-oriented SMEs. "The export potential is in line with the government's efforts to encourage exports to increase the trade balance. LPEI also plays a role in supporting these efforts. "One of our forms of support is in addition to financing guarantees and insurance, also the most important is consulting services in the CPNE program," said Sinthya.

Sinthya added, he visited the booth of the LPEI-assisted SMEs to ensure consulting services had succeeded in increasing the class of SMEs to become export entrepreneurs.

"I also went around to see if this program could benefit them. Alhamdulillah, they said the program was very useful, because they were taught how to build a quality product, "said Sinthya.

Through this 2019 TEI, buyers are expected to have seen that Indonesian products have quite good quality and in the future sales from the LPEI target can increase.

For the future strategy, LPEI, which has the objective of exporting debtors to more than 165 countries, will conduct positioning, strategic alignment and partnership. Positioning by looking at the position of the Indonesian State in Global Value Chains (GVC). Then, placing the role of LPEI in the role of the value chain of national export activities that is in line with the national economic program, because LPEI is only one part of the overall national export activity chain.
