Government Allocates IDR 1.4 Trillion for Fresh Graduate Internship Salaries

Jakarta - The government has allocated a budget of IDR 1.4 trillion to fund the National Internship Program for 100,000 new graduates. Each participant will receive a salary equivalent to the Provincial Minimum Wage (UMP) during the internship period.

This was announced by Minister of State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi in his statement in the Cikini area, Jakarta, Friday (10/17/2025). "Approximately IDR 1.4 trillion, total for 100,000 participants," said Pras.

This program is part of the government's strategy to expand job opportunities for new graduates who often face experience requirements when applying for jobs. "Usually, job applicants are required to have experience. Without a breakthrough like this, fresh graduates will struggle," he said.

The government has launched the first wave of this program with 20,000 participants. In November, the number of participants will increase by 80,000, bringing the total quota to 100,000.

Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto added that interns will also receive additional benefits in the form of Job Loss Insurance (JKP) and Death Insurance (JKM) through the Social Security Agency (BPJS Ketenagakerjaan), with contributions covered by the government.

"All interns will receive a monthly allowance equivalent to the minimum wage in their respective regions," said Airlangga.

Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto expressed the high level of enthusiasm among fresh graduates for the government's Fresh Graduate Internship program.

This program offers a stipend equivalent to the Provincial Minimum Wage (UMP) and various social security benefits for workers.

Airlangga revealed that a total of 156,159 applicants had registered for 20,000 internship positions in the first wave.

"As of today, 1,666 companies have registered and prepared job positions. There are 26,181 vacancies on offer, with 156,159 applicants," Airlangga said in Jakarta on Friday (10/17).

The selected participants will begin work on October 20, 2025, at various partner companies that have passed the administrative selection and verification process.

Additional Quota Opens in November

Airlangga added that the government plans to open a second wave in November 2025 with a four-fold larger quota, namely 80,000 participants.

This measure was taken to expand employment opportunities for new graduates throughout Indonesia, particularly during the transition from education to the professional world.

In addition to a stipend equivalent to the Provincial Minimum Wage (UMP), Airlangga stated that participants will also receive social security benefits, including unemployment insurance (JKP) and death insurance (JKM).

"In addition, participants will receive contributions for unemployment insurance and death insurance, and these contributions will not deduct from the stipend provided by the government," he emphasized.

This program is part of the Coordinating Ministry for Economic Affairs' initiative to expand employment opportunities and improve the competency of young workers to better prepare them for the competitive job market.
