10 Annoying Mistakes in Interior Decoration

Now we know about these offensive mistakes and we swear never to repeat them again!

Of course, there is no perfect interior decoration. The design of each house is too individual and depends on many different factors. But still, basic basic rules and principles exist. Introducing the hit parade of the most common misses, which are pretty easy to avoid if you know about them in advance. Do not allow these oversights and your interior will look much better: whoever is warned is armed!

LOCATE ALL FURNITURE ALONG THE WALLS

A well-thought-out layout is the key to the success of the entire interior. When arranging furniture, free at least part of the walls, this will help to avoid the impression of an “exhibition hall”. For example, you can put a large armchair in the corner of the room or a sofa in the center of the living room.

MIX TOO MUCH DIFFERENT SHADES

Fill the room with many different shades - and it will resemble a bazaar. The rule will help to avoid this error: no more than three local colors at a time! If you are confident in your abilities, use additional shades - close tones derived from these three colors. The result will not be long in coming - the interior will look more harmonious.

Plenty of different decorators and ornaments
We avoid variegation by applying only one of these two points:
Or different ornaments in identical shades
Or identical ornaments in different colors!

MONOCHROME TOTAL LOOK INTERIOR

Sterile white dining room, like in a hospital? There is absolutely no such decision! Except in those cases when the furniture is very original, and the rest of the space is also quite "active". To give volume and relief to a monochrome setting, consider interspersing colors and various textures.

Excessive concentration of items

Abusing the amount of decor and furniture is a sure way to spoil the interior. Such a mistake can be made almost everywhere: a large coffee table is replaced by three folding mini-tables, a collection of family photos in the frame stands on the wall, four types of baskets for things and toys in the children's room, etc. Be careful not to “strangle” your interior, stick to the golden rule - better less is better!

CONSIDER THAT EVERY INTERIOR SUBJECT HAS ONLY ONE PURPOSE

But what if you turn a pouf or a banquette into a night table? Or to make a zoning partition between a kitchen and a living room from a bookcase? Change of purpose is one of the most effective and fashionable techniques of modern decoration. Feel free to come up with extra features for your furniture.

UNDERSTIME THE IMPORTANCE OF CORRECT LIGHTING

Bright lamps have the same power as most diffused ones. Reduce their intensity in all rooms, according to your needs. Let there be a lot of lamps and each one is used depending on the situation. For example: a ceiling chandelier works when you need to illuminate the entire space, and fixtures with settings for medium and low light accompany a reading chair or dining table.

USE A “DECEPTION” WHICH DOES NOT DECEPE

Panoramic wallpapers with a view of the "Italian street" or brickwork in the loft style - never decorate the interior and definitely give a cheap look. Just a beautiful wallpaper or a real brick wall is a thousand times preferable to its fake image.

FORGET THE IMPORTANCE OF PROPORTIONS

Big room with big furniture? Not. A small room with a mini-sofa and a XXL coffee table? Also no. Proportions are very important in decorating. Mix them only if you have large volumes of space. Conversely, if your space is limited, use small “trending” items, they will help create harmony.
